Copper Mould Tubes

The rapid development of the iron & steel industry has led to a transformation in the steel manufacturing process. The continuous casting of molten steel into billets, blooms and slab products has been highly refined over the years into an extremely sophisticated system. The function of copper mould tubes is to receive the molten steel and to allow rapid heat transfer and enable quick solidification. The features of the manufactured tubes are:

  • ˜Excellent Thermal Conductivity

  • ˜Resistant to Thermal Erosion

  • ˜Resistant to Distortion from Thermal stress

  • Resistance to Abrasion

  • ˜Cost Effective

CMT-Cu-DHP (Phosphorus de-oxidized copper)

Thealloyhasbeenproventobe excellentforthe manufacture of moulds in the continuous casting of billets. The main compositions of this alloy are Cu+Ag99.90, P 0.0015/0.040

CMT-Cu-Ag (Copper-Silver Alloy)

The addition of small amount of silver , while not increasing the melting point of copper, does increase the re-crystallization temperature by almost 100°C, and also helps to give better thermal conductivity at the operating temperatures. This alloy is normally used in moulds for the continuous casting of blooms and slabs. In this case, the mould’s are much thicker than in the billet moulds, and the mould’s temperature can be higher. The main composition of this alloy is Cu+Ag99.90min Ag0.08/0.12 O 0.004/0.012

CMT-Cu-Cr-Zr (Copper-Chromium-Zirconium)

Specialty mould alloys are made based on customized requirements of the customers.
